Glenn E. Cartwright Essay Award The grand prize winner for 2000 was Danielle R. Schmidt from Beta Mu Chapter for her submission entitled, "Clinical Maintenance of Dental Implants and Prevention of Peri-implantitis." RULES AND REGULATIONS
2. Each eligible student who wishes to participate in the Essay Contest must secure an application form and copy of these Rules and Regulations from either the Supreme Chapter Office or this web site (application coming soon). 3. Completed applications must be signed by the participating student and College Chapter Advisor, and returned to the Supreme Chapter Office by the announced deadline. 4. All manuscripts will be reviewed by members of the Awards Committee of the Supreme Chapter. No more than two (2) Grand Prize winners may be recognized each year. In the event that two (2) Grand Prize winners are selected, they will share the monetary award equally. 5. The topic or subject of the essay may be either a scientific or nontechnical aspect of dentistry. 6. Previous winners will not be eligible to enter a subsequent Glenn E. Cartwright Essay Contest. 7. Manuscripts must not contain more than ten (10) double-spaced, type-written pages with one-inch margins, exclusive of bibiography, tables, charts and illustrations, which shall not require more than two (2) additional pages. 8. The name, address or chapter affiliation of the author must not appear on the essay. The essay should be attached to the application form. 9. Plagiarism will not be accepted. The participant must compose the entire essay without outside assistance, and the use of any reference material must be so identified and credit given in the bibliography. 10. Deadline for receipt of manuscripts in the Supreme Chapter Office is June 1.
1. There shall be two (2) prize categories. No more than two (2) prizes may be awarded in each category per year: GRAND PRIZE: The best manuscript as judged by the Awards Committee will be awarded a monetary prize of $500. In addition, the student will receive a Certificate of Merit signed by the Supreme President and Supreme Editor. The winning essay, along with a picture and brief biography of the winning student, will be printed in a subsequent issue of the QUARTERLY publication of the Fraternity. In the event of a tie, the monetary prize will be divided equally between the two winners and both manuscripts and biographic material will be printed in the QUARTERLY. HONORABLE MENTION: The manuscript that is judged by the Awards Committee to be worthy of Honorable Mention shall receive no monetary prize. However, the student will receive an Honorable Mention Certificate signed by the Supreme President and Supreme Editor.
